Drop it now, pick it up later — on the same WiFi, or anywhere with a Private Room link. The other person doesn't need to be online when you share: files and text stay in the room after you close the page, for 24 hours after anyone last opened it.

How to share by WiFi

Share text between your phone and computer

Text sharing is the feature people use most. Paste a link, a note, a one-time code, or a snippet of code into the text box and tap Share. It shows up instantly on your other device, so you don't have to email or message yourself.

It's handy for moving a WiFi password from your laptop to your phone, opening a long URL on your computer that you found on your phone, or passing notes between work and personal devices without signing in to anything.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an app?
No. ShareByWiFi runs in your web browser on phones, tablets, and computers. Just open sharebywifi.com on each device.

Is it free?
Yes. Sharing files and text is free, with no account or signup required.

Does the other person need to be online?
No. Upload now and they can download it later, even after you've closed the page.

How long do files stay?
Files and text are removed automatically 24 hours after anyone last opened the room. Each time someone opens or refreshes the page in that room, or downloads a file, the 24-hour timer starts again. This works the same way for Network sessions and Private Rooms.

Is it private?
A Network session is visible to anyone on the same WiFi, including people who join later. Use a Private Room for anything personal: only people with its link or QR code can see what's shared there.

What if we're not on the same WiFi?
Switch to a Private Room. It gives you a link and a QR code that work from any network, whether that's mobile data, a different WiFi, or another country.
