A Private Room is a sharing space of your own that works across networks — your phone on mobile data, your laptop on office WiFi, or a friend in another city. Both sides can add and download files and text. No email, no account, nothing to install.
Create a Private RoomNobody has to be online at the same time. Files and text wait in the room for 24 hours after it was last opened, so you can drop something in now and the other person can pick it up later.
Your phone is on mobile data and your laptop is on WiFi, so they aren't on the same network. Create a Private Room on one device and scan its QR code with the other. Both are now in the same room, and anything you add on one is ready to download on the other. There's no cable, no app, and no emailing files to yourself.
Text sharing is our most-used feature. Paste a note, a link, an address, or a snippet of code into the room and anyone with the room link can open and copy it, on whatever device and network they're using. Each text can be up to 10,000 characters.
WeTransfer is built for delivering files one way: you upload, the recipient downloads. For large one-way deliveries, like sending finished work to a client, it's the better fit.
ShareByWiFi is better for quick two-way exchange between your own devices or a few people. Everyone in the room can add and download, text and files sit side by side, and there's no email involved. Rooms are capped at 1GB in total, so it isn't the right tool for very large deliveries.
Each room has a random ID in its link, so nobody can find it by browsing or guessing. But anyone who has the link or QR code can open the room, and once they're in, they can see, download, add, and delete everything in it. Treat the link like a key and only share it with people you trust.
Anyone in the room can delete a file or a text, and it disappears for everyone straight away; deleted files are also removed from storage. Anything left in the room is removed automatically 24 hours after the room was last opened. Reset Room gives you a new, empty room with a new link, but the old room isn't wiped — its contents expire on the same 24-hour schedule, and anyone with the old link can still open it until then. Delete items first if you want them gone right away.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no signup, no email, and nothing to install. Create a room in your browser and share its link or QR code.
How long do files stay?
Files and text stay in the room for 24 hours after anyone last opened the room. Each visit restarts the clock, and anything not opened for 24 hours is removed automatically.
What's the size limit?
Up to 500 files and 1 GB in total per room. Each text can be up to 10,000 characters.
Can the other person upload too?
Yes. Everyone in the room has the same access: they can add files and text, download anything in the room, and delete items.
